学院概况:
西南交通大学艺术与传播学院2004年6月成立,前身为西南交大人文社会科学学院美术系、中文系及音乐系。学院成立以来,大力推进了我校人文艺术学科的建设与发展,加强了艺术文化类学科与理工学科间的交叉渗透,并通过人文艺术与技术学科的互动,逐步形成一个富有创造活力的良性发展空间及在国内外卓有影响的人文与艺术学科群。
学院设有艺术设计系、工业设计系、美术学系、中文系、传播学系、音乐系等6个教学单位;2个研究所:国际应用美术研究所、人机环境系统设计研究所;4个研究中心:比较文学与当代文化研究中心、影视文化研究中心、当代艺术研究中心、巴蜀方言与文献研究中心;并有艺术创作综合实验中心、传播与影视实验中心、音乐教学实践中心等三个实验室。
学院还担负着建设国家大学生文化素质教育基地的工作,并设有四川省设计艺术人才培养基地。
学院在编教职工150余人,其中教授 20余名,副教授 40多人,具有博士、硕士学位的教师占70%以上。教师中有多名由奥地利、德国、美国、日本、俄罗斯等国学成归来的学者和艺术家。同时,学院还聘请了40余名国内外知名艺术家和学者担任顾问和客座教授。
学院有完整的学士—硕士---博士培养体系,设有1个一级学科博士学位点,7个二级学科博士学位点,3个一级学科硕士学位点,9个本科专业方向。目前在校本科生2300多人,硕士、博士研究生近500人,继续教育学生150余人。
About the School
The School of Arts and Communications was founded in June 2004, incorporating the Departments of Fine Arts, Chinese Language and Literature, and Music from the School of Humanities and Social Science. The School commits itself to the development and shaping of a series of influential disciplines of humanities and arts, dissolves the distinctive boundaries between the subjects of liberal arts and cultures and those of science and engineering, and through the interaction and interrelation between them fosters an environment of academic originality and creativity.
The School is comprised of six departments: the Department of Art Design, the Department of Industrial Design, the Department of Fine Arts, the Department of Communications, and the Department of Music, two research institutes: International Institute of Applied Arts and Institute of Design and Research for Man-Machine-Environment Engineering System, four research centers: the Center of Comparative Literature and Contemporary Culture, the Center of Film and Television Culture, the Center of Modern Arts, and the Center of Ba & Shu Dialects and Literature, and three studios including the Central Studio of Artistic Creation, the Studio for Communication, Film and Television, and the Music Studio.
The School also serves as the base for the training of talents and intellectuals in the field of design arts in Sichuan Province, and is now engaged in the construction of national education base for the development of university student cultural awareness.
Among the 150 full-time faculty members of the School, there are over 20 professors and 40 associate professors, over 70% of the staff have Ph. D. or M. A. degrees, and many of them are renowned scholars and artists returning from Austria, Germany, U. S., Japan, Russia etc. after the completion of their overseas studies. In addition, over 40 prestigious artists and scholars are working as the advisors or adjunct professors of the School.
The School offers a complete range of B.A, M.A., and Ph. D programs including 1 First Grade Discipline for Ph. D Degree, 7 Second Grade Disciplines for Ph. D Degree, 3 First Grade Disciplines for M.A., and 9 B. A. programs. At present, over 2300 undergraduate students, 500 master and doctorate candidates, and 150 students for continuing studies attend the School.
