中文系现设有汉语言文学、高级涉外文秘、对外汉语、广播电视新闻学等四个本科专业和文秘、新闻采访与制作两个专科专业以及汉语言文学、文秘两个专接本专业,现有全日制在校生1700余名,是唐山师范学院办学规模最大的系之一。

中文系设有中国古代文学教研室、现当代文学与世界文学教研室、文艺学教研室、语言学教研室、对外汉语教研室、文秘教研室、新闻学教研室、教师素质教研室、人文素质教研室以及文学与文化研究所、语言与文献研究所等11个教研单位。

中文系师资队伍力量雄厚,在专任教师中,有教授12名,副教授20名;博士9名(其中双博士后1名),硕士28名,有4名教师被外校聘为硕士生导师。

近几年来,中文系以提高教学质量为中心,不断加强专业与学科建设,积极引进高学历人才,大力改善教学条件,取得了丰硕的教学成果,汉语言文学专业被评为省级品牌特色专业,中国古代文学、文学概论和古代汉语被评为省级精品课程。

中文系注重以科研促教学,科研成果丰硕,精品力作迭出。2000年以来,中文系教师主持国家社会科学基金项目一项、教育部项目一项、河北省社会科学基金项目六项,出版著作80余部,在全国中文核心期刊和权威报刊发表论文500余篇。多篇论文被《新华文摘》、《高等文科学报文摘》、《中国人民大学复印报刊资料》摘引和转发。成果获国家级奖励四项,省部级以上奖励20余项。其中王相文教授主编的教材丛书获教育部普通高校教材一等奖,杨立元教授的专著获全国伯乐文学一等奖,论文获中国文联首届文艺理论奖、河北省第七届“五个一工程”奖、中国文联第五届文艺理论奖,论著获河北省第十一届文艺振兴奖。多名教师先后被评为全国师德标兵、河北省有突出贡献的中青年专家、河北省教学名师、河北省优秀教师、河北省“三三三”人才、河北省思想政治工作先进个人、唐山市专业技术拔尖人才、唐山市市管优秀专家、唐山市社会科学优秀青年专家、唐山市优秀教师、唐山市劳动模范。

中文系率先开展留学生教育,先后有德国、美国、泰国等国学生到中文系留学。多名教师有出国任教经历,多名毕业生赴蒙古、尼泊尔等国任教。

中文系学生工作特色鲜明,社团活动成绩斐然,心侣剧社的节目两次入选全国大学生戏剧节,并且荣获优秀剧目奖,填补了我省空白。学生多次在全国语文教师基本功大赛、全国英语大赛、全国书法大赛中获奖。

中文系学生就业渠道不断拓宽,优秀毕业生不断涌现,有的成为省部级领导干部,有的成为专家、教授,有的成为全国优秀教师,有的自主创业,为社会做出巨大贡献。

中文系学生考研率不断提高,越来越多的学生考取香港中文大学、清华大学、北京大学、南开大学、吉林大学、北京师范大学、中国艺术研究院等名校的研究生。

At present, the Department of Chinese Studies includes 4 undergraduate programs, including Chinese Language & Literature, Senior Secretarial Profession in foreign affairs, TCSL, Radio & TV journalism and 2 junior professional training programs which are Secretary and News Reporting and Production. In addition, the department carries out 2 top-up programs in Chinese Language & Literature and Secretary, in which students can upgrade from junior college to undergraduate program. As one of the largest departments in Tangshan Teachers’ College, the Department of Chinese Studies now accommodates more than 1700 full-time students studying here.

There are more than 11 teaching and research sections and institutions in the Department of Chinese Studies in such areas like ancient Chinese literature, modern and contemporary literature & world literature, theory of literature and art, linguistics, TCSL, secretary, journalism, teachers’ quality, humanistic quality, literature and culture, language and literature and so on.

The Chinese Department in Tangshan Teachers’s college has a distinguished teaching faculty.Including the full-time teachers,there are 12 professors,20 associate professors,9 doctors(one has got double postdoctoral degree),and 28 masters.Besides,4 of the teachers have been employed as master supervisors by other universities.

Recently,the Chinese Department has focused on improving the teaching quality,strongly building up specialized subjects,and trying to improve the facilities efficiently.At the same time,many educators who have got high degrees have been actively imported.Above all,the Chinese Department has obtained great achievements.Among the famous subjects,the Chinese Lingustic and Literature has been awarded the provincial professional brand speciality.What’s more,Chinese Ancient Literature,Introduction to Literature,and Ancient Chinese have been named the provincial five-selected courses.

The Department of Chinese Language works on improving teaching with research. The department has achieved great scientific outcomes and is producing high-quality works. Since 2000, teachers in the department have taken charge of one National Social Science Fund project, one project of The Ministry of Education, six Social Science Fund projects of Hebei province, and published over 80 works, and more than 500 papers in National Core Chinese journals and Authoritative newspapers. Many papers have been quoted and reprinted by Xinhua Digest, CUPA and People University Reprography Archives. Research achievements of the department were honored four national awards and over 20 awards in provincial or above levels. Among them all, the textbook series edited by Professor Wang Xiangwen won First Prize of General College Teaching Materials by the Ministry of Education. Professor Yang Liyuan was awarded first prize of Bo Le Literature for his monograph, the First Literal Theory Award of China Wenlian, The 7th Five “One” Project Prize of Hebei Province and the Fifth Literal Theory Award of China Wenlian for his papers, and the 11th Literal Renaissance Award of Hebei Province for his works. Several teachers were rated successively as National Teacher’s Morality pacesetters, Young and Middle-Aged Specialists with Outstanding Contributions in Hebei Province, Master Teachers and Prominent Teachers of Hebei Province, “Three Three Three” Talents, Advanced Individuals of Spiritual and Political Work in Hebei Province, Professional Top-notch Personnel, City’s Outstanding Specialists, Excellent Young Social Science Specialists, Prominent Teachers and Model Workers of Tangshan City.

Chinese department takes the lead in launching the education of overseas students. And students from German, America, Thailand and other countries choose to study in Chinese department successively. Besides, many of our teachers have the experience of teaching abroad and an amount of the graduates take up teaching in Mongolia, Nepal and other countries.

The student work of Chinese department is special and excellent, and the association activities get brilliant achievements as well.

The plays of Xinlv Drama Society have been selected into the National Campus Drama Festival twice and won the Excellent Play Reward, thus filling the blanks of our province. In addition, the students repeatedly receive the prizes of National Chinese Teachers’ Skill Competition, National English Competition and National Calligraphy Competition.

The employment channel of the students in Chinese department is continuously widening and outstanding students are ceaselessly emerging, some of whom become the leading cadres of province or ministry level, some of whom are specialists or professors, some of whom get the award of National Excellent Teacher and some of whom become self-employed. They all make a large contribution to the society.

The rate of students taking part in the entrance examination for postgraduates is enhancing constantly and an increasing number of students are admitted to a great deal of celebrated schools —for instance, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Nankai University, Jilin University, Beijing Normal University, Chinese National Academy of Arts .
