唐山师范学院化学系于2000年3月成立,前身是成立于1956年的唐山速成师范专科学校化学科。现设有化学(师范类)、应用化学和材料化学等三个本科专业、商检技术和煤化工生产技术等两个专科专业。目前本专科在校生1200余人。

化学系拥有一支年龄结构和学历结构较为合理、学术思想活跃的教师队伍,现有教职工45人,其中专任教师40人;现有教授11人、副高级职称11人;其中博士11人、硕士19人,硕士以上学历教师占75%。教师中有河北省“三三三”人才1人、唐山市市管专家1人、唐山市十佳教师1人、唐山市优秀教师2人、国家职业技能鉴定高级考评员2人、河北省化学教指委委员1人、唐山市安全生产专家委员会委员1人。

多年来化学系秉承 “教学为本,面向应用,服务地方”之理念,践行“求实创新,自强奋进”之精神,以人才培养为中心,积极进行学科、专业、课程建设。目前化学专业、应用化学专业为校级重点建设专业;应用化学学科为校级重点建设学科;《物理化学》为省级精品课程,《无机化学》、《有机化学》、《仪器分析》、《综合化学实验》为校级精品课程,《工业商品检验技术》、《结构化学》、《无机与分析化学》为校级重点建设课程。

化学系设有无机化学教研室、有机化学教研室、分析化学教研室、应用化学教研室、材料化学教研室和化学实验教学中心等六个教学机构,设有系党政办公室、教学办公室、学生办公室等三个行政机构。唐山市生物与化学新技术重点实验室设在化学实验教学中心,唐山市化学会靠挂在化学系。

化学实验教学中心设有基础化学实验室、综合化学实验室、化工原理实验室、化工仿真实验室、应用化学实验室、高分子科学实验室等。实验教学中心现有实验室总面积6000平方米、仪器设备总值800余万元,各类仪器设备配置齐全,拥有包括气相色谱仪、高效液相色谱仪、原子吸收分光光度计、紫外吸收分光光度计、红外光谱仪、总有机碳(总氮)分析仪、荧光分光光度计、电化学工作站、差示扫描量热仪、热失重分析仪、计算机控制转矩流变仪、电子万能试验机等大型精密仪器,为教学和科研提供了良好的条件。

多年来化学系坚持“实基础、适口径、强能力、具有创新意识和社会责任感”的高素质应用型人才培养定位,以社会需求为导向,以能力培养为核心,全面提高学生综合素质。近5年来化学系学生获河北省“挑战杯”大学生课外学术科技作品竞赛一等奖2项、二等奖3项、三等奖3项,河北省“挑战杯”大学生创业计划大赛一等奖1项、二等奖1项、三等奖1项,全国大学生英语竞赛中2人获一等奖、2人获二等奖、5人获三等奖,在“CCTV”杯河北省英语口语大赛中获三等奖1项,河北省大学生数学竞赛非数学类一等奖4人、二等奖2人、三等奖1人。本科生在校期间在省级以上刊物发表学术论文40余篇。2006年以来本科毕业生的硕士研究生录取率一直保持在40%以上,在同类院校处于领先水平,很多学生被北京大学、吉林大学、武汉大学、南开大学、天津大学、北京理工大学、大连理工大学、北京师范大学、华东师范大学、东北师范大学等重点大学录取。毕业生的初次就业率一直保持在80%以上,很多学生被大中型生产企业录用,毕业生的质量受到用人单位的肯定和好评。

化学系正处于全面发展的最佳时期,全系教职工正以饱满的热情、开拓的精神、扎实的工作、抓住机遇、加快发展,力争早日建成在人才培养、科技创新和服务区域经济等方面有鲜明特色的教学单位。

The Department of chemistry of Tangshan normal university grew out of Chemistry Disciplines of Tangshan teacher training school. In 2000, the Department of chemistry was set up on the basis of the chemistry major. The department now has 3 undergraduate majors, namely, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry and Material Chemistry; 2 junior college specialties ( Commodity Inspection Technology and Coal Chemical Production Technology). Now, Department of chemistry has over 1,200 full-time students.

The age structure and education background of the body of teachers is more reasonable. The Department of chemistry boasts a strong faculty of 45 people, including 11 professors, 11 associate professors and 11 teachers holding doctorate, 19 teachers holding Master's degree. One teacher was entitled Hebei new century " 333 talent project " third level suitable person; One was entitled the Specialist under Tangshan people's government supervised; one teacher entitled the top ten teacher of Tangshan ; two teachers entitled the excellent Teacher of Tangshan; two National Occupation Skill Appraisal Senior Examinants; one Hebei Province Chemical Teaching Guidance Committee member, one Committee member of Tangshan committee of production safety experts.

Over the years, adhering to the idea of the "teaching being as base, application-oriented, service for local place", we tries and builds discipline construction, major construction and curriculum construction with the spirit of "realist, innovation, self-improvement and struggling". At present, chemistry and Applied Chemistry major have become the main construction majors of Tangshan normal university. Applied chemistry is the key construction discipline; Physical chemistry is the Quality Course of Provincial Level ,Inorganic chemistry, Organic chemistry, Instrumental analysis, Comprehensive chemistry experiment are the Quality Course of College Level; Industrial commodity inspection technology , Structural chemistry , Inorganic and analytical chemistry are the key construction courses.

The chemistry department established the Inorganic chemistry, Organic chemistry, Analytical chemistry, Applied chemistry, Material chemistry teaching and research section, and Teaching Center of Chemistry Experiment,The chemistry department also instituted three administrative agencies, such as party and administrative office 、teaching office、student work office. Tangshan biological and chemical technology key laboratory located at the Teaching Center of Chemistry Experiment,The Chemical Society of Tangshan located at Chemistry Department.

Teaching Center of Chemistry Experiment consists of Basic Chemistry Laboratory, Integrated Chemistry Laboratory, Principles of chemical engineering laboratory, chemical industry simulation laboratory, Applied chemistry laboratory, Polymer science laboratory, et al.

Teaching Center of Chemistry Experiment with the total area of 6000 square meters, provides favorable physical conditions for the teaching and research. The value of the instruments and equipments are more than 8 million RMB. The equipments of the laboratory are complete. There are gas chromatographs, high performance liquid chromatograph, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, UVVIS spectrophotometer, infrared spectrum, automatic on-line total organic carbon (TOC) analyzer, fluorescence spectrophotometer, electrochemical workstation, differential scanning calorimetric(DSC), thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), torque rheometer, electronic universal testing machine, et al.

Over the years, the Department of chemistry adheres to the orientation of cultivating the high-quality applied talents,which is "solid foundation", "suitable caliber", "strong capacity", "innovative consciousness" and "social responsibility". Taking the social demand as the guidance and taking ability training as the core, we improve the students' comprehensive quality.

In recent 5 years, the students got two first prizes,three second prizes,and three third prizes in Hebei province "Challenge Cup" undergraduate extracurricular academic performance Contest. The students got a first prize,a second prize,and a third prize in Hebei province "Challenge Cup" undergraduate Business Plan Contest. Two students got the first prize, two students got the second prize, and five students got the third prize in the English competition for undergraduate. The students got the third prize in Hebei province "CCTV Cup" Spoken English Contest. Four students got the first prize, two students got the second prize, and one students got the third prize in Hebei province Mathematical Contest. Undergraduates published more than 40 academic papers. The admission rate for those taking part in the entrance exams for postgraduate schools is about above 40%. Some students were admitted to Beijing University,Jilin University,Wuhan University,Nankai University,Tianjin University、Beijing Institute of Technology、Dalian University of Technology、Beijing Normal University、East China Normal University,Northeast Normal University, et al. The rate of graduates initial employment has remained above 80%,Many students are employed by large and medium-sized enterprises , the quality of graduates comes in for the employer's affirmation and praise.
