外语学院简介:

1994年招收第一届二年制外贸英语专科学生,1995年起,外贸英语专业的学制由二年改为三年,1997年获准招收第一届外贸日 语三年制专科生,2003年起全部招收本科生。2005年6月我院本科英语获准学士学位授予资格。2006年6月我院本科日语获准学士学位授予资格。目前在校本科生1377人,其中英 语本科在校生726人,日语本科在校生651人。截止2009年9月底,已毕业学生2766 人,

外语专业是杉达的特色专业,学校聘请了优秀教师执教,“从严治学,从实育人,从质施教”,取得了良好的教学效果。历年专 业英语八级平均通过率超过全国平均水平15-20个百分点,历年专业日语八级平均通过率超过全国平均水平3-9个百分点。2009年英语专业就业率为96.5%,日语专业就业率为 97.5% ,我院毕业生的就业前景十分乐观。

外语学院下设大学英语部、英语系和日语系三个部门,现有专任教师67 名,其中教授 4名,副教授10(13)名,讲师35(33) 名。教师中有博士4(2) 名,其余基本为硕士 。有26位教师曾留学美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、日本等国。另有外教 18名。

1994 the School of Foreign Languages was officially approved of for admitting two-year English majors and the next year the program was extended to a three-year one. In 1997 the School was accredited to enroll three-year college students majoring in Japanese. In 2003 the School started to offer four-year undergraduate programs. In June 2005 the English Department of the School was certified to confer the Bachelor’s degree henceforth. In June the next year the Department of Japanese received the same authorization. Currently the student population of the School is 1377 in number, among which 726 are English majors and 651 are Japanese majors. By the end of 2009, there will have been a total of 2766 graduates.

Foreign languages programs are one of Sanda’s specialties. The university has employed quality teachers and adhered to the principles of rigorousness in academic studies, substantiality of curricula and high quality of teaching. In the past few years the average passing rate for TEM-8 has been 15 to 20 per cent above the national average and that for NSS-8 has been 3 to 9 per cent above the national average. In 2009 96.5% of the English majors and 97.5% of the Japanese majors proved successful in job hunting.

The School is composed of three divisions: the Department of English, the Department of Japanese and the Department of English for Non- majors. Currently there are 67 full-time faculty members, among whom 4 are full professors, 10are associate professors and 35 are lecturers. 4 of them hold doctoral degrees and all the others hold master’s degrees. 26 of them have studied in the U.S. Canada, Australia, Japan and some other foreign countries. In addition, there are currently 18 foreign teachers working with the School.
